To Be Love

I was presented with a little gem of wisdom while at the Youth for Freedom. It is the difference between being and doing. A mentor of mine spoke about being forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something you should decide upon in the moment forgiveness is needed. If that is the case, you are doing forgiveness. If forgiveness is a way you are being, it is part of your very nature, your very character. It is already a precedent for your action. You go into a situation where you may or may not be hurt or offended already having forgiven the person.

This is precisely what our Heavenly Father does and is. On Sunday, someone mentioned something while giving a talk that triggered this question in me: Does God choose to show love to us every single time something happens?

But then I was like, wait. God IS love. The choice is already made. He doesn't just do love, for he is it. If we are to become like Him, we must be love also. Unconditionally. In all things. We can be love, for He is love and we are His children.

C.S. Lewis said something like if we want to know more about love and have a greater capacity for it, we need to be in touch with Love Himself. We need to be in touch with God.

That is so simple, yet so profound to me.
